A little history of who I
am.
|
I started with Brittanys in the late 90's. Learning about the Brittany Breed which before the mid eighties was called the Brittany spaniel and since they are a pointing breed the American Brittany Club got the Spaniel dropped off the name. I started to learn a lot about the Brittany when I got my first Brittany who was named K Nine Mike...Through this wonderful little guy I grew to learn about the Brittany breed. When I wanted to start breeding this marvelous breed I wanted to nurture and help to make our breed the best it is... Through Mikey I learned about the heartbreak of Hip Dysplasia..even though OFA isn't an end all ..It is something where a person can help to lesson the chances of futures pups with this awful degeneration of the hips. (This is known in almost all breeds out there.) So I started to do some research on the Brittany’s and learn about the history of the Brittany. Learning the foundations and speaking with other Breeders who spent time proving their Brittany’s I knew I had to get serious about what I wanted to do with my Brittanys. I wanted to breed for the serious hunter or trialer I found out that there are plenty of people who are breeding Brittany’s who do not prove and keep up the genetics of solid breedings. I didn’t want to be a part of the common breeder. I wanted to help lesson the chances of my Brittany’s ending up in the American Brittany rescue and proving my dogs through NSTRA and getting quality bred dogs for my program was my goal. Seeking a reputable breeder...your chances are better off, not having issues, then your common breeder who doesn't go that extra mile in keeping up the performance, confirmation, and everything else that those who work so hard do. Note: Mikey became neutered so there was no chance of him mixing into the gene pool. But Mikey got me into the world of trialing I checked to see what was available to do near where I am at...the Brittany clubs offered a couple of trials in August and a couple in January...I still looked around and found NSTRA National Shoot To Retrieve...this offered a trial almost monthly so I went to watch one...The dogs had to point and remain consistent to have consistent scores the handler had to shoot birds and the dog had to retrieve the birds...I liked this as it was more like hunting with a twist so I began NSTRA....Soon after I started Mikey would slow down he was very competitive and won't pace himself like he did when we were hunting or guiding. This is when I found out about his HD. I then got a wonderful little female from my now good friend Ed Mayhew her name is Tucalota Creek Picabo and started to finish her and began running her in trials I promised Ed I would make a NSTRA champion out of her and I did live up to my promise . I then looked to Nolan Huffman for some Brittany’s from his great breedings as I was getting ribbed about running Brittany’s in a mostly pointer and setter trials I decided I would go to the one that was proving and beating the others I wanted a dog from Nolan’s Last Bullet AKA Buddy my first was K Nine Blazin Bullet then I got K Nine’s Beeline Bullet.
These dogs have
given me the opportunity to see a lot of things and places I may never have
seen with out them I have been blessed with some awesome dogs and through this site you will see and be able to share in some of what we do...I have a chat board where I encourage people to share ideas and ask questions. I feel any venue which gets a person out with their dogs is great...One venue is not better then another. Our foundations and beliefs are that our Brittany breed excels at what ever we decide to do. I strive to breed quality Brittany’s that make trial prospects, Hunting companions, gundogs and the over all family pet.
My Brittany
pups are guaranteed.
Parents are OFA’d and of proven backgrounds. Parents are
evaluated before I consider to breed to either trialed or show true
intensity on birds here on the preserve which I am at in Arizona,
